How Kefalonia stole my heart

This sunset encapsulates everything that I love not just about travel but about Greece too. The simplicity and beauty of life and nature but most importantly a reminder to stay in the present as moments like this can happen when you least expect it.

I took a picture of this sunset on a secluded stretch of beach in August 2014 whilst on a trip to Kefalonia, Greece after coming to the end of a turbulent couple of years; financially, professionally and personally. Who would have thought that a week’s holiday to a tiny Greek island would rebalance me and shift my whole perspective, not just on travel but life itself. In my very first blog post I explained to readers why I wanted to travel but whenever I read back over it, it reads like a love letter to Kefalonia.

When travellers are asked what their favourite country they have visited is they generally find it difficult to narrow it down to one. However when people ask me this question my answer is always Greece. Truthfully? I may never have started this blog had I not gone on this trip and for this reason, Kefalonia and it’s endless beautiful sunsets will always have a very special place in my heart.
